West of Trail: Another Up-and-Coming Sarasota Area
Like East of Trail, this area of Sarasota is rapidly transforming. The "Flowers Streets", Desota Park, McClellan Park, Cherokee Park, and Harbor Acres are some of the neighborhoods that encompass the area on the west side of Tamiami Trail, known as West of Trail. This area also offers close proximity to Southside Village shopping, dining, and entertainment, easy access to Sarasota Memorial Hospital, and a short commute to Downtown Sarasota.

This coveted and highly desirable area is a wonderful mix of vintage 1920s homes, mid-century modern, estate homes, and waterfront residences. Smaller refurbished cottage and ranch residences typically start in the $400,000s along with tear-downs that are being replaced by larger newly constructed custom homes.
Oyster Bay Estates, another West of Trail neighborhood, features mature trees, spacious sites and refurbished homes, new construction, and waterfront residences. The 18th-century Spanish-style villa on the water in Oyster Bay was built by the Fields of the Marshall Field retail stores in Chicago and turned into a private club, adding tennis courts and a pool and expanding the docks when it was purchased in the 1950s. Today, the historic Field Club has about 600 members.
